How Are Runs Structured?
Typically three distances will be offered at each session, varying from 3 to 10 miles. At each session, the routes will be read out in some detail. The routes are published prior to the run and made available via social media. Winter routes are also posted on a dedicated Chase Harriers notice board at the Leisure Centre. Regardless of location, members are required to sign out prior to each run and back in again to confirm that they have returned safely.
Fees and Costs
The annual membership fee for running members is currently £30. This includes individual affiliation to England Athletics which is described below. The monies raised through membership fees is used to subsidise members’ purchase of official Chase Harriers running vests and also a number of the social activities held during the year.
For non-runners we also offer social membership. This does not provide England Athletics affiliation, but access to the social functions held throughout the year. Social membership is currently £10 per year.
Individual Affiliation
A significant part of the annual membership fee, currently £15 per member, goes directly to England Athletics. Affiliation has a number of benefits to individual athletes, from discounts on most race entry fees through to discounts at recognised sportswear manufacturers such as New Balance and InterContinental Hotel Group.
Club Structure
The club is governed by a committee, with roles including: Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Club Captain, Social Secretary and general members. The committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting which is held in March. Club members are actively encouraged to join the committee to ensure a fresh flow of ideas and to ensure that as broad a spectrum of members are represented when making decisions affecting their club.
Club Kit
As a representative of the club at events we ask that you wear club colours. To support this, the club heavily subsidise the purchase of club-branded vests. These are made by Ron Hill and are available in a wide range of both lady’s and men’s sizes. It is often difficult to pick out a face in a crowd so competing in club colours helps supporters and spectators identify you and also gives a sense of team membership. Some people have their name printed on their vest.
A large range of other club-branded clothing and merchandise is available. Holding stock is expensive so all of these items can be ordered online from our partner company, Blueprint Designs, who are based in Rugeley.
